You did not fail. Look at what the kids accomplished in the past 2 rehearsals! They did great! We know it's hard stuff, we know it's a challenge for our kids, but we still did it. We did not "cop out" and use easy stuff this year. Next year may be a different story depending on the group. Do NOT beat your self up. The kids were proud of themselves after we performed, and we need to remember that. And, we are proud of them.
There is only so much we can do as instructors. We can lead them, but they have to pull their own weight as well. we can't force them to play better, we can't force them to practice, we can't force them to put their best out there each day. But we can encourage them to do all of those things. In the end, it's all up to them, and what they want to do with this.
