What God sees in me...

I sometimes feel like a failure, like everyone hates me and like I have failed God. Then I ask a friend, "what did you do this week?" They usually respond with something fairly calm and casual. They then ask me the same and I say, well let's see, on Saturday I took 100 high school kids out of town to compete at a nationally recognized event. We didn't win but we didn't come in last either. We spent the night in an upscale hotel where the kids got in no trouble, and caused no complaint among the other guests. Shall we stop there? Is that not a great week's accomplishment? That's not all. On Monday, these same kids dismantled an entire stage of scenery in under 3 hours so that we could turn around and host an Armed Forces Band Tuesday night...to the largest concert audience our school has seen in recent years. Then on Wednesday we held a banquet for a few hundred people, on Thursday gave a concert to honor our veterans, on Friday we marched across the downtown to honor the same folks, and that same Friday evening we marched Santa to his house at the mall. Then on Saturday, we sent 12 of our best and brighest to be honorary members of a prestigious group who worked all day and gave a supreme performance on Sunday. And then I think to myself--that was just ONE of the 48 weeks I teach out of the year! And I know that its God working through me. There's no way I could do it myself. He knows I need him more than I am able to see and he knows that his plans will succeed when we think we're failing. Praise God for showing me I'm not a failure!
